Since Solomon Schechter's famous trip to Egypt in 1897, the Cairo Genizah has enriched virtually every field of Jewish studies. Yet one type of Genizah fragment was ignored until a few years ago: the fragments of the Babylonian Talmud.
The situation began to change for the better twenty-five years ago with the publication of facsimiles, variant readings and lists of Bavli fragments.
The primary goal of this facsimile edition of all known fragments of Bavli Rosh Hashanah is to enable Talmud students and scholars throughout the world to have easy access to these hitherto unknown remnants of the oldest extant manuscripts of this tractate. It will also enable specialists to see the codicology, paleography, vocalization and cantillation of the fragments for themselves.
